Salomon Men’s Speedcross 3 Trail Running

Salomon Speedcross 3Running has its unique set of challenges. And trail running, more so. I find trail running very exciting, as it lets me experience varying terrains and sceneries along the way, but mud can be a huge pain in the neck. So, I am usually on the lookout for a shoe that can make me handle the trying conditions of a natural trail better. That is why I am going to tell you what I found about Salomon Men's Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe because, as far as trail running goes, this shoe is the real McCoy.

The Salomon Men's Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe is touted as a trail-ready shoe with a water-resistance and an anti-debris upper. Other interesting features include something by the name of Dual-density EVA midsole, which helps with the shoe's ergonomics. The shoe also features an ortholite insole, a quick lace system, and mud and snow Contagrip rubber outsole. The functionality of these features is just as purported. Still, my own research revealed some highlights I felt were worth discussing further.

What I Like

Believe me, this shoe was made for muddy roads! I was totally amazed at the grip it had as I ran in otherwise slippery muddied trails. The sole design is that good! I should know. With some shoes, I have to be extra cautious when running on wet natural trails to avoid tumbling to the ground due to slipping. But with this shoe, I was surprised that I could almost completely throw caution to the wind and run as I would on a dry surface because the shoe has the design capabilities to perform better than expected under the circumstances.

Independent of its ability to help you keep your balance on muddy trails, this shoe is able to handle water perfectly. A closer examination proved to me that the shoe's synthetic water-resistant upper is the secret behind this welcome reality. The shoe will not keep you from getting wet, but it will not let water add to the shoe's weight and slow you down as you run. Many shoes, thanks to their cushioning and other forms of padding, take up water like sponges, making the shoes increase their weight considerably. I hate this, it really weighs you down, which is why I like that Speedcross 3 was able to take care of this problem through its thoughtful design.

What I Don't Like

While this shoe will do more than enough to keep even hardcore trail runners satisfied, it does not hold up well to hard rough surfaces. I like versatility in a shoe, but it helps to know where a shoe's limits are even when it is able to deliver superb performance in its recommended environment. So, if you are looking for a shoe to use for surfaces other than natural trails, your needs would be better served by a different shoe model – the lugs on this one are simply not meant for use outside wild running trucks, they will fall off pretty fast. This also means that wearing it to the office and casual appointments might not work out so well either.

Salomon Men's Speedcross 3 Trail Running Shoe has everything I look for in a good trail running shoe. After seeing what it can do, I can't help but think it certainly deserves a place in my running gear repertoire.
